Mint – #1 “Free” Online Portfolio/Money Manager
Mint.com is a free, safe, secure, and easy website to manage & budget your money.
I read about Mint in money magazine about 6 months ago and decided to try it out since they rated #1 free online money manager. I have not been disappointed! They are constantly improving an already great service.
Signing up is easy and it only takes a couple of minutes to get your accounts set up. It will link up to all the accounts you want: credit card, banking, stock trading, loans, etc. Once you have all you accounts set up you can do additional task like setting up budgets, etc. The service also shows you ways to save money if you click on the save money tab by showing you lower interest rate credit cards & higher interest rate checking and savings accounts but there is no intrusive advertising.
Another cool feature is it lets you see how your spending habits compare to others (anomously) in your area or throughout the U.S. It also will send you alerts for big purchases or if you go over budget on anything in particular. It will send you weekly summaries on how you are doing. One of the best things I like about it is there is an iPhone application so I can see how I am doing anytime anywhere.
The service is as secure as your bank and in additions you cannot move money since it’s a ready only service. It doesn’t show any personal information like account numbers, etc.
So try it out since it’s free and can only help you in getting control of your finances!
