You may be giving up some things like Technical support, Anti-Spyware, Firewall, & Spam protection but you can bundle these with other free apps for close to the same protection.
Anti-virus Software
- AVG – They also have a free version of Anti-Spyware & Anti-Rootkit.
- Avast – Free Anti-Virus but you have to register it and get your key.
- Avira – Free Anti-Virus, also a couple other free products to bundle with it.
Anti-Adware
- Ad-Aware – Free protection against adware & spyware.
- Spybot S & D – Spyware protection
