AMD Athlon Now Features Zen Cores – The $55 Athlon 200GE

AMD is introducing Zen Core architecture in their first Athlon processor, the Athlon 200GE. The Athlon brand has been updated with their Zen Cores and has been part of AMD’S CPU family from a very long time. The last processor which was designed at this size load was Ryzen 5 2200G which was introduced previously this year but lesser rated parts are missing for a while and no action has been take in sub-$100 US market for a while. But now this will not be a problem as AMD is now presenting their Athlon 200 series parts which will add three SKUs. One of this kind is the Athlon 200GE which is initiation today.

This is the basic level chip based on Zen Core architecture. It has 2 cores,4 threads and by Zen Core it means 14mn FinFET based on the structure and not on the 12nm process node with a base clock of 3.20 GHz and has no boost clocks which was common with the previous Athlon series. It also has no overlocking support.

The chip ships with 5MB of L3 cache and the Radeon Vega 3 graphics engine which includes 3 CUs of 192 stream units. The Athlon 200GE will ship with a 35W TDP and feature a price of $55 US. The Athlon 220GE and The Athlon 240GE are the two more models under Zen based Athlon family. The details of these parts are included in Q4 2018 but specifications are not mentioned. All Athlon 200 series processors will be companionable with AM4 socket boards which start at $50 US and support features such as USB 3.1 Gen2,NVMe,DDR4 memory which does make for a convincing budget PC which is well-meaning for offices, for routine usage at home and for students learning computers as well as for unplanned gaming and even Esports titles such as overwatch and fortnite.

Availability

The AMD Athlon 200GE computer will be accessible from Worldwide stores and system integrators opening from Sept.18,2018, and the Athlon 220GE AND 240GE processor models are scheduled for unveiling in Q4 2018.
