This 8TB SSD is the largest laptop consumer hard drive in the world

Sabrent has just come up with the Rocket Q SSD with the largest capacity ever. NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 has a maximum storage capacity of 8 TB which Samsung and Micron have still not achieved.

Largest SSD for a Laptop by Sabrent

In the latest SSD flagship, Sabrent doubled the capacity of its previous model, thus, making it the largest SSD by Sabrent that can be plugged into a laptop with an M2 slot. Although it has a maximum capacity of 8 TB, we already have the Nimbus data’s ExaDrive DC 100 in the market with a massive storage capacity of 100 TB.

This new SSD is a PCIe Generation 3 model instead of generation 4. However, it supports SMART and TRIM commands. Besides this, it features bad block management and over-provision features. For easy cloning, free Acronis True Image software is already installed in it. It’s also equipped with advanced wear-leveling to enhance both its shelf life and general performance.

The Rocket Q flagship consists of a Phison E12S controller and Micron QLC chips instead of TLC technology.

Incredibly Fast but Expensive

Read/write speeds of the new SSD by Sabrent have not been yet revealed. However, the previous 4TB version delivers 3.4GBps/3GBps on read/write. It also delivers 0.49/0.68 MIOPS on random 4K QD32 read/write. Thus, we can expect an improved performance in the 8TB model. The price of the new SSD is not yet confirmed but it’s expected to be around $1900 when compared with the price of the 4 TB model.
