4. Partial Solar Eclipse – 6th January, 2019

6th January also marks the occurrence of the partial solar eclipse, which occurs when the Moon shrouds up a small area of the Sun.

Experts believe that this partial solar eclipse can be seen from certain regions in the northern Pacific Ocean and eastern Asia. Northeastern Russia is considered to be the most suitable location to witness this wondrous astronomical event with 62% visibility.

5. Full Moon, Supermoon – 21st January, 2019

The Full Moon, Supermoon also known as the Moon After Yule and the Old Moon by communities across the world, is expected to be the first amongst the three Supermoons scheduled to occur in 2019.

Ancient Native American tribes considered it to be the Full Wolf Moon. It will be situated on the opposite direction of the Earth, much like the Sun, allowing its surface to be vibrantly illuminated, much brighter than it usually is. Experts believe that it will take place at 05:16 UTC.

6. Concurrence of Venus and Jupiter – 22nd January, 2019

The concurrence of Jupiter and Venus is scheduled to take place on 22nd January, allowing the two vibrant planets to be orbiting with a distance of 2.4 degrees. This astronomical wonder has taken the sixth place amongst our list for the top 10 astronomical events, and you can spot it in the early morning sky, minutes after sunrise.

7. Total Lunar Eclipse – 21st January, 2019

A total lunar eclipse is expected to occur on the 21st of January, and it only happens when the Moon makes its journey through the dark shadow of the Earth, also known as the umbra. People residing in North America, South America, eastern Pacific Ocean, Western Europe, Western Atlantic Ocean, and Western Africa will be able to spot the total lunar eclipse.
